FREITAG by Hender Scheme

“FREITAG by Hender Scheme” explores the possibilities of successive and circular creation in the concept of 'Niji-sousaku' (meaning secondary creation in Japanese). “HS MIAMI VICE” is a 'Niji-Sousaku' product that hacks the “F52 MIAMI VICE” by replacing the original handles with natural-colored off-cut leather and attaching a leather tag. FREITAG’s used truck tarp handles have been repurposed and reconstructed into a long shoulder strap. In collaboration with Hender Scheme’s new platform “circulation”, hands-on workshop was held, involving participants in the manufacturing process of this bag reinterpretation.

Hender Scheme × G-SHOCK

We made a collaboration watch with G-SHOCK. Gathering the each brand’s specialities into the product, we made a watch which tells time in 2 different ways. Hender Scheme designed the watch and the leather belt. The handsewn leather belt is manufactured by Hender Scheme. The vegetable tanned leather will gradually get aged by use. While the tough digital watch tells accurate time, you can feel the march of time from the aging of the leather belt.

THE NORTH FACE × Hender Scheme

Under the theme of “things that change, things that do not change”, this collaboration presents a collection that combines the identities of each brand, in upcoming seasons. Hender Scheme and THE NORTH FACE create the products embrace the contrasts of each brand’s essences: durability and ageing, functionality and universality, nature and city.

Hender Scheme x FRAMA

“Hender Scheme x FRAMA” unites both brands’ craftsmanship, unique aesthetics, and design philosophy. Spreading across a range of bespoke home goods for utilitarian living featuring vegetable tanned leather detailing with a unique twist.

Separate from our standard collection, items from “re_creation” are created without restriction, regardless of the brand’s standard season terms. A series of one-off products, crafted in Hender Scheme's atelier, are recreated from existing things - adding a new layer of interpretation.

Hender Scheme × Clarks ORIGINALS

“Hender Scheme x Clarks ORIGINALS” release the collaboration shoes “Desert Seam”. The “Desert Seam” is a new Desert Boots based on the original model, with the motif of "peace tip" expressed by the seam line that is sewn on the outside. The history of the Clarks Desert boot which was originally used by British troops stationed in Burma during the Second World War, inspired Hender Scheme to use its unique “peace tip” motif on the desert boot for this collaboration. The “peace tip” is a contemporary addition by Hender Scheme to the wide range of decorative details seen in classic leather shoes, including the “Wing Tip” and “Straight Tip”.

Hender Scheme x Tod’s

In this collaboration “Hender Scheme x Tod’s” between two brands which both celebrate craftsmanship, Hender Scheme’s concept, “TOD’S⇄DOT’S” allowed the brand to explore and combine the expertise in shoemaking and leather craft of the two brands in a reinterpretation of iconic objects. Hender Scheme’s creative attitude “New Craft” explores the equilibrium between mode and craft - using the knowledge and techniques of artisans to create contemporary designs. Both Hender Scheme and Tod’s share the idea of making things with respect for craftsmen and craftsmanship. Hender Scheme has incorporated the iconic pebble sole of the Tod’s Gommino - the inspiration for the ‘TODS⇄DOTS’ concept. By reinterpreting the pebbles size, proportion and position the brand blends the contemporary vision of Hender Scheme with Tod’s history.

Lexus LF-Z Electrified

Using Hender Scheme’s signature vegetable tanned leather, we reimagined the #LexusLFZ ’s interior with discover lexus. For the project, we selected various types of leather which, over time, will increase in color, texture, and gloss. Hender Scheme’s LFZ interior visualizes the passage of time and creates a unique value for the rider.

"craft yourself" is a handmade kit series which allows you to create Hender Scheme's products at home. We will release the kits, composed of leather, a needle and thread, from which you can assemble our products by hand stitching the components. We wish to share the joy of crafts and creativity with everyone at this challenging time.⠀

Hender Scheme × Dr. Martens

Hender Scheme have created a collaboration with Dr. Martens. Fusing the shoemaking heritage and craftsmanship to redefine a classic—twice. The limited collaboration consists of two reworks of Dr. Martens’ iconic 1461 shoe, manufactured by each brands. “1461 Hender Scheme” was made in England at its Wollaston factory, and “manual industrial products 21 × Dr. Martens” was made in Japan manufactured by our craftsmen in Asakusa, as a part of the line “manual industrial products”.

Hender Scheme × karimoku

"Hender Scheme × Karimoku" products will be in stores from Jul. 10th. "カリモク(Karimoku)"  is well known as a top Japanese furniture brand with 76 years history, and for making new designs. We proudly announce that we became the first fashion brand collaborated with Karimoku. This collaboration started with the our designer's idea "to make products which has the harmonized surface of leather and wood.” We designed the products to remain charactaristic of its nature, so the products can get more originalities used by  each owners. We shared this ideas and made two products,a chair and a pairs of sabot sandals. We hope these products to be loved as owers use them and get more charastalistics by use and aging.

Before we started the brand Hender Scheme, we have long been familiar with the unique character and charm Asakusa has. People in Asakusa have a reputation for being warmhearted and supportive neighbors yet strangers are not always welcome here. Coming from this neighborhood, we decided to publish this book to faithfully present the excellence and kindness as well as fastidiousness of the skilled craftsmen we work with.   The manufacturer passes the product to the purchaser. The people who use it then will continue to complete the product.The process and progress is illustrated in this book.
